How to get stuck-on bugs off your windshield and front end!

It’s bug season, and if you’re traveling anywhere across the United States, it likely means that your windshield and front end will be caked with the sticky remains of tiny critters as you make your way from town to town.

Why does your windshield get covered in bugs?

Cars are designed with aerodynamics in mind. There’s a lot of complicated physics involved in designing the shape of each vehicle to try to mitigate bugs from slamming against the windshield at high speeds. Bugs caught in the airflow will generally slip up and past an angled windshield, while flatter windshields get covered in sticky bug remains.

What makes it worse?

Generally speaking, you want to try to rinse the bugs off as soon as you can. Bug splatter becomes a compounding obstruction the longer you allow it to go without being washed, and also becomes harder to clean the longer it sits on your windshield.
