Springtime Mud and Dirt

Springtime in Wyoming and Montana brings with it the melting of snow and ice that has sat with us throughout the long winter months. What it also brings with it is a ton of mud on your vehicle! The mud you put on your paint just by driving back and forth on a muddy road could be abrasive, not only while you are driving through it, but also when you leave it on your vehicle to dry. Vents, breather valves, suspension, and steering can also be affected by muddy build up.

Consider Cleaning Floor Mats First

Snow may look clean and pure, but the truth is, snow creates a muddy mess when it melts in the spring. The air absorbs chemicals as they evaporate off the ground, turns it into snow, melts into the ground, and then we track that mud into our vehicles and onto our floor mats. Before you even start the time in a self-serve bay, consider grabbing your floor mats out, and throwing them up on a mat clip to be power washed with hot, soapy water. 

Clean It While It’s Still Mud

Whether you go mudding with your vehicle in the spring, or you are driving through the mud on your way into town, the very best thing you can do is wash your vehicle while the mud is still wet. If your vehicle is really muddy, we always recommend washing in a self-serve bay to ensure you get your vehicle fully clean. A trip through the automatic after a quick rinse in a self-serve bay can also ensure you get an undercarriage blast to get off any stuck on mud underneath your vehicle (our Best and Better wash packages include undercarriage blast).

If the Mud Dries

If the mud has already dried on your vehicle, try soaking it with the presoak function before hitting it with high pressure wash soap. This will give the mud some time to remoisturize, and the presoak can help to break it down faster than just high pressure soap alone.
